About Me
We are all of us all the time
coming together and falling
apart. The point is, we are not rocks. Who wants to be one anyways - impermeable,
unchanging, our history
already played out?
~John Rosenthal

I earned my M.Sc. in Family Relations and Human Development from the University of Guelph. I have been trained and certified in Couple and Family Therapy. For many years I was Certified in EMDR and I have extensive training in trauma and trauma recovery. In 2018 I completed IFS Level 1 and began to integrate IFS with EMDR and other approaches to trauma and healing.
Prior to my clinical training, I taught at the University of Guelph in the Family Relations department. I have over 20 years of experience facilitating groups, and I'm coming back to doing more group work again now. Currently I facilitate consultation groups for therapists integrating complex trauma work with IFS. (I also lead writing groups that are therapeutic but are not psychotherapy.) My most important teachers have been my own relationships and my personal healing journey. I am a Regulated Health Professional, legally bound by regulations and practice standards for the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
I think about people in the context of their family relationships, past and present. I practiced psychotherapy from 2006 to Nov. 30, 2022 with in-office, phone, virtual and walking sessions for individuals, couples and families, addressing a wide range of clients and concerns. I brought to my work with psychotherapy clients:
-
a keen interest in current research
-
a passion for healthy relationships and personal healing
-
clinical experience with people of many socio-economic backgrounds
-
insights borne out of many years of being a partner, a parent, and a human being on a path towards wholeness and joy
I am making changes to my life, work, and practice. More details on this in coming months. While still passionate about wellness, mental health, and healing of individuals, families and communities, as of Nov. 30, 2022 I am not offering psychotherapy.
